Job summary

Joe V's Smart Shop, a division of H-E-B, is seeking an Exempt Department Manager to oversee department operations with a focus in your area of expertise, including perishable and center store, inventory flow, receiving, and shelf edge.

You will lead teams, manage scheduling, analyze financial and performance reports, and ensure safety, quality, and customer service. This role requires retail management experience and strong leadership.

Qualifications

• Operational/retail management experience required.
• Strong leadership in complex teams with multiple direct reports.
• Solid understanding of retail accounting and cost controls.
• Experience with ordering, inventory maintenance, and shrink control.
• Ability to lead, own the business, and develop talent.
• Interpersonal skills and flexible scheduling.
• Completion of JVSS management training or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Oversee department operations including perishable, center store, inventory flow and front end.
• Manage staff, hiring, coaching, and performance for area of focus.
• Review financial and performance reports; identify opportunities and issues.
• Lead the inventory flow team to maximize productivity and accuracy.
• Ensure safety, quality, and customer service standards across departments.
• Coordinate with store leadership for total store alignment.
