Job summary

BTS Software Solutions is seeking a Front-End Software Developer focused on Modeling & Simulation and hardware-in-the-loop (HITL) at Aberdeen Proving Ground. You will develop modern interfaces to configure systems, visualize complex data, and interact with real hardware and simulated environments.

The role requires translating complex workflows into intuitive UIs, collaborating with engineers across disciplines, and leveraging web technologies to support real-time data and simulations.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI security clearance.
• Experience integrating front-end applications with REST APIs, WebSockets, message-based interfaces, or other backend services.
• Experience developing data-intensive interfaces, dashboards, visualization tools, or engineering applications.
• Familiarity with software development practices including Git, automated testing, code review, and CI/CD.
• Ability to translate complex system requirements into effective user interfaces.

Front-End Software Developer – Modeling & Simulation / HITL

BTS is seeking a Front-End Software Developer – Modeling & Simulation / HITL to provide intelligence support, supporting the Intelligence and Information Warfare Directorate (I2WD) at Aberdeen Proving Ground

What You'll Get to Do

Develop modern software interfaces supporting modeling and simulation, hardware-in-the-loop (HITL), and advanced engineering environments for critical national security missions. You'll build intuitive applications that allow engineers and operators to configure systems, visualize complex data, control simulations, and interact with physical and simulated hardware.

More About the Role

As a Front-End Software Developer, you'll design and implement user interfaces for engineering, simulation, and test applications. You'll work closely with modeling and simulation engineers, embedded developers, hardware engineers, and systems engineers to translate complex technical workflows into usable software. The ideal candidate combines strong modern front-end development skills with experience integrating applications with real-time data, simulation environments, or HITL systems.

Required Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI security clearance.
• Experience integrating front-end applications with REST APIs, WebSockets, message-based interfaces, or other backend services.
• Experience developing data-intensive interfaces, dashboards, visualization tools, or engineering applications.
• Familiarity with software development practices including Git, automated testing, code review, and CI/CD.
• Ability to work directly with engineers and technical users to translate complex system requirements into effective user interfaces.

Desired Qualifications

• Experience supporting modeling and simulation (M&S) environments.
• Experience developing software for hardware-in-the-loop (HITL) or software-in-the-loop (SITL) systems.
• Experience visualizing or interacting with real-time telemetry, sensor data, system state, or simulation outputs.
• Familiarity with Python, C++, or other languages commonly used in engineering and simulation environments.
• Experience with 2D/3D visualization, geospatial interfaces, plotting, or scientific visualization libraries.
• Familiarity with simulation tools or frameworks such as MATLAB/Simulink, ROS/ROS 2, Unreal Engine, Unity, Gazebo, or similar.
• Experience integrating software with unmanned systems, robotics, embedded systems, test equipment, or physical hardware.
• Experience developing applications for aerospace, defense, autonomy, or other complex engineering environments.
