Job description

Overview

Job Locations: US

Category: Information Technology

Type: Regular Full-Time

DecisionPoint seeks a Front End Developer with strong Oracle Application Express (APEX) expertise to support the design, development, enhancement, and maintenance of web-based applications within a large federal and DoD-aligned mission environment.

This position will focus on developing intuitive, responsive, accessible, and maintainable user interfaces using Oracle APEX, while working closely with backend developers, database specialists, UX/design personnel, product owners, and other members of the development team.

The ideal candidate is an experienced front-end developer who has significant hands-on experience developing applications in Oracle APEX, rather than simply supporting or administering existing APEX applications. The developer should be comfortable extending APEX using JavaScript, HTML, and CSS and working with SQL, PL/SQL, REST APIs, and Oracle database-driven applications.

This position is fully remote.

Duties & Responsibilities
Oracle APEX Development
  • Design, develop, enhance, test, and maintain web applications using Oracle Application Express (APEX).
  • Develop and configure APEX pages, regions, forms, reports, interactive grids, navigation components, shared components, and other user-interface elements.
  • Use APEX Page Designer, Dynamic Actions, validations, computations, processes, and shared components to implement application functionality.
  • Develop responsive and user-friendly application interfaces using APEX capabilities combined with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  • Customize APEX templates, themes, and page components to meet application and user- experience requirements.
  • Develop reusable APEX components and common UI patterns to improve consistency across applications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve APEX application issues involving page processing, session state, validations, dynamic actions, navigation, and application behavior.
  • Support the modernization and enhancement of existing Oracle APEX applications.
  • Participate in application releases, testing, deployment, troubleshooting, and production support.
Front End Development
  • Develop responsive, accessible, and intuitive web interfaces.
  • Create and maintain front-end functionality using HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, and Oracle APEX.
  • Translate functional requirements, wireframes, and designs into working application interfaces.
  • Improve usability, navigation, page layout, forms, workflows, and other interactive application components.
  • Ensure interfaces function consistently across supported browsers, devices, and screen sizes.
  • Identify and correct front-end defects, display problems, validation issues, and usability concerns.
  • Work with UX and content personnel to implement application interfaces that provide a consistent user experience.
  • Participate in peer reviews and contribute to front-end development standards and reusable design patterns.
Application & Integration Development
  • Work with backend developers and database specialists to integrate the APEX front end with application data and business logic.
  • Develop and maintain SQL and PL/SQL necessary to support APEX application functionality.
  • Create and consume RESTful APIs and web services to integrate APEX applications with other enterprise systems.
  • Troubleshoot issues involving application interfaces, data retrieval, REST integrations, authentication, and application processing.
  • Work with technical teams to diagnose issues that span the user interface, APEX application layer, APIs, and Oracle database.
  • Support secure data exchange and application integration requirements.
  • Participate in integration testing and validation of application functionality.
Accessibility & User Experience
  • Develop applications with accessibility and usability incorporated throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Support Section 508 accessibility requirements applicable to federal digital services.
  • Implement accessible forms, navigation, controls, error messages, and interactive components.
  • Work with QA and accessibility personnel to identify and remediate user-interface defects.
  • Incorporate feedback from users, product owners, and UX personnel to continuously improve application usability.
Development & Project Support
  • Participate in requirements analysis, design discussions, development, testing, deployment, and application support.
  • Work closely with product owners, Operations Managers, developers, database administrators, testers, UX personnel, and government stakeholders.
  • Estimate development activities and communicate technical risks, dependencies, and constraints.
  • Document application functionality, technical solutions, configurations, and development decisions.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing activities, defect resolution, and release preparation.
  • Support Agile development activities and collaborate with team members to meet sprint and release objectives.
  • Troubleshoot production application issues and support root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
Qualifications
Clearance Requirement
  • Must hold or be able to maintain Secret clearance.
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Web Development, or a related technical discipline preferred.
  • Relevant professional development experience may be considered in place of a degree when permitted by contract requirements.
Experience
  • 3-5 years of professional front-end, web, or application development experience.
  • Strong hands-on Oracle APEX development experience required.
  • Demonstrated experience building and enhancing applications using Oracle APEX rather than solely administering or supporting APEX environments.
  • Experience developing responsive web interfaces using JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • Experience developing application functionality using Oracle SQL and PL/SQL.
  • Experience troubleshooting web applications across the UI, application, integration, and data layers.
