Job summary

The Fresh Grocer in Cedar Grove, NJ is seeking a Customer Service/Courtesy Clerk to deliver a friendly, accurate checkout and assist customers throughout the store. You will scan, price and bag products, handle payments, and process returns in line with company policy.

Responsibilities emphasize excellent service, product knowledge, safe handling of items, and adherence to safety and QA standards. This role requires reliability, teamwork, and the ability to stand for long shifts.

Qualifications

• Ability to proficiently read, write, speak, analyze, interpret, and understand the English language.
• Ability to perform basic math.
• Ability to stand/walk for the duration of a scheduled shift.
• Ability to lift 25 lbs regularly and up to 50 lbs occasionally.
• Ability to work with fresh, dried and/or processed products and avoid allergies.
• Ability to interact with Customers in a friendly and helpful way.
• Ability to work cooperatively with others.
• Ability to adhere to all time and attendance policies.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a clean, neat, organized and safe work environment.
• Greet Customers and provide prompt, courteous service and assistance.
• Enter Customer information into database for eligibility of Wakefern programs.
• Understand operation of cash register and follow all cash handling procedures.
• Knowledgable about the products carried in the store.
• Sort and return items to stock with attention to perishables.
• Handle damaged merchandise per Company procedures.
• Perform price checks when needed.
