Job summary

The Fresh Grocer in North Haledon, NJ is hiring a Customer Service/Courtesy Counter Clerk to deliver a great customer experience, assist with purchases, and answer inquiries. You will scan and bag items, collect payments, and ensure accuracy and confidentiality in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include greeting customers, maintaining a clean work area, processing returns, and following company policies. The position pays $15.92–$16.00 per hour and offers benefits eligibility.

Qualifications

• Must read, write and speak English proficiently.
• Able to perform basic math.
• Must stand or walk for the duration of shifts.
• Able to lift up to 25 lbs., occasionally 50 lbs.
• Able to work with fresh, dried and processed foods and avoid allergic reactions.
• Able to interact with customers in a friendly manner.
• Able to work cooperatively with others.
• Adhere to all time and attendance policies.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and provide prompt, courteous service.
• Operate cash register and follow cash handling procedures.
• Know product locations and varieties carried in the store.
• Stock, organize, and return items including perishables.
• Process returns and handle refunds per policy.
• Answer phone professionally and direct inquiries as needed.
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment.
• Follow company safety and QA standards and dress code.
