Job summary

Cosentino’s Food Stores is seeking a Customer Service Clerk to assist customers with a courteous, efficient shopping experience. You will support the front-end team, handle inquiries, process returns, exchanges, and price adjustments, and help maintain a clean, professional store environment.

The role requires knowledge of customer service standards, basic math/reading skills, and adherence to health, sanitation, and safety guidelines, as well as regulatory compliance for alcohol/tobacco sales.

Qualifications

• High school diploma preferred.
• Ability to operate and maintain equipment safely.
• Knowledge of health regulations, sanitation and safety procedures.
• Knowledge of customer service standards.
• Awareness of alcohol and tobacco regulations.
• Strong verbal and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Know and implement the Cosentino’s Customer Service Standards.
• Provide courteous answers to customer questions with up-to-date product information.
• Be knowledgeable about department and store products to assist customers.
• Operate, clean and maintain equipment safely.
• Meet or exceed productivity standards for team and individual results.
• Keep the front end clean and professional in appearance.
• Efficiently handle returns, exchanges and price adjustments.
• Monitor front end activity and adjust to customer needs.
• Assist cashiers with customer transactions as needed.
• Act as cashier when required to ensure a friendly experience.
• Resolve customer complaints professionally and involve store management when appropriate.
• Comply with health/sanitation/safety regulations for the department/store.
• Follow governmental regulations on weights/measures, alcohol and tobacco sales.
• Demonstrate strong verbal/interpersonal skills in interactions.
• Demonstrate basic math and reading skills.
