Qualifications

• Education and/or experience completed or working towards a High School Diploma or GED.
• No prior experience required.

Responsibilities

• Smiles and greets customers, answers questions, and resolves concerns promptly in a polite, professional manner.
• Follows policies relating to customer checkout to increase satisfaction.
• Operates front end scanning equipment and cash register.
• Performs checkout procedures including bagging merchandise and placing items in the customer’s cart.
• Maintains accuracy during the transaction, including handling cash, checks, electronic payments and coupons.
• Maintains proper security measures and cash drawer accounting procedures.
• Follows store guidelines regarding sale of tobacco and alcohol.
• Keeps knowledge of weekly ads, promotions and store layout to answer questions.
• Responsible for general sanitation in the department.
• Follows cleaning schedules to ensure work areas are clean and meet health and OSHA requirements.
• Disposes of trash properly.
• Cooperates with coworkers and supervisors to ensure smooth department/store function.
• Continuously improves job performance.
• Uses PPE such as cut resistant gloves, safety cutters, and company footwear.
• May assist in other departments.
