Job summary

Family Fare in Marshall, MI is seeking a friendly cashier to operate the cash register and scanner, itemize purchases, and process payments with courtesy and accuracy.

Responsibilities include bagging, handling various payment methods, maintaining PLUs, and promoting store programs. You will ensure a clean, organized front-end and assist with stocking as needed, while following safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• One year of prior retail experience preferred.
• Good verbal communication skills.
• Customer service and organizational skills; detail-oriented.
• Basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills required.

Responsibilities

• Operate cash register and electronic scanner to itemize customer purchases; handle a variety of products.
• Process financial transactions including cash, checks, credit cards, EBT, loyalty cards, coupons, etc.
• Weigh and bag customer purchases.
• Understand and use check-stand equipment (register, scanner, scale, belts).
• Perform front-end duties such as merchandising check-stand and restocking items as needed.
• Communicate store programs, in-store specials and coupons to customers; model high customer service standards.
• Comply with company policies regarding cash handling, security, product handling, and sale of restricted items.
• Maintain a clean and well-stocked department; follow safety and sanitation procedures.
• May assist with stocking items; follow PPE and safety guidelines.
• Follow guest experience guidelines and be adaptable to department needs.
