Job summary

Safeway is hiring a Front-End Team Member in Mesa, AZ. You will focus on delivering a smooth checkout experience, assist customers, and help keep the front end organized and running efficiently throughout the shift.

You’ll handle transactions, restock supplies, and assist with bagging while adapting to changing priorities in a busy store. Prior customer service is preferred but not required; training is provided.

Qualifications

• Customer-facing roles require friendly, clear communication at checkout.
• Handling cash, card, and digital payments with accuracy.
• Attention to pricing, scanning codes, and order accuracy.
• Basic math and register balancing skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining workflow.
• Support front-end needs like bagging, carts, stocking.
• Identify and address pricing or service questions.
• Follow store policies and checkout procedures.
• Adapt to changing tasks and customer flow.
• Stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Scan items, bag groceries, and assist customers at checkout.
• Process purchases accurately including cash, card, and digital payments.
• Maintain a clean, organized front-end area and assist with carts and stocking.
• Rotate between tasks and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
