Job summary

Fred Meyer is seeking a part-time cashier at our Spokane location to assist customers and process sales while upholding our core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and safety.

Responsibilities include operating the register, handling returns and payments, and maintaining a clean checkstand area. You will answer phones, follow policies, and support store initiatives in a busy retail setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or a combination of education and experience is required.
• Six months cashier experience to work at Customer Service Desk.
• Must be 18/19 depending on state requirements for tobacco sales.
• Ability to pass a drug test and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work weekends, regular shifts, and overtime as needed.
• Ability to organize and prioritize tasks with accuracy and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and encourage other associates to deliver excellent customer service.
• Perform cashier functions: open/close register, ring sales, tender transactions, bag merchandise, and make money drops.
• Maintain price accuracy and log file discrepancies.
• Keep the checkstand area clean and stocked to housekeeping standards.
• Answer telephones and comply with corporate policies.
• Promote Company initiatives and ensure EAS tags are deactivated at sale.
• Respond to EAS pedestal activations and verify tag removal as needed.
• Maintain store accounting functions and prepare bank deposits of excess funds.
• Open/close the Customer Service Desk and process refunds, exchanges, money orders, transfers, and payments.
• Provide lottery service (except Alaska) and issue licenses where permitted; manage faxes and lost and found.

• Minimum 18 years of age/19 years of age in Idaho/ 19 years in Alaska if selling tobacco
• Ability to pass drug test
