Summary

The Front Desk Receptionist works as part of the medical office team performing clerical duties to prepare patients for Check In/Out, Registration, Eligibility, and Scheduling processes. Responsible for answering phones, gathering third-party payment information, recording charges, and collecting payments.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma/GED
  • Bilingual English & Spanish (Required)
  • 1 year of customer service experience (Required)
  • 6 months of customer service in a medical office (Preferred)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Greeting patients and visitors, answering calls courteously, addressing questions, and routing calls.
  • Scheduling clinic appointments during patient check-out and by phone.
  • Ensuring patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Monitoring waiting room for patient well-being and reporting issues to clinical staff.
  • Maintaining patient demographic and clinical/administrative documentation in charts.
  • Facilitating smooth patient flow throughout the clinic.
  • Advising patients on sliding fee scale and making adjustments as needed.
  • Gathering third-party payment info, recording charges, and billing patients.
  • Entering charges into the Electronic Medical Records system.
  • Handling cash payments from patients.
  • Participating in compliance, safety, quality assurance, and performance activities.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.
  • Participating in emergency and disaster response activities as part of safety programs.
