Job summary

Thrive Now Recovery Centers - Outpatient in Des Moines, IA seeks a Patient Care Coordinator to be the first contact for patients and families. This on-site role blends front-desk support, scheduling, admissions, and daily clinic operations in a new Des Moines outpatient program opening late 2026.

You will greet patients, manage the front desk, assist with registrations, coordinate appointments, and ensure HIPAA-compliant, organized care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate degree or higher in healthcare, behavioral health, human services, social work, or related field preferred.
• Experience in behavioral health, substance use treatment, healthcare, or outpatient services preferred.
• Experience with patient scheduling, medical reception, care coordination, admissions, or healthcare administration preferred.
• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy outpatient environment.
• HIPAA knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients, families, visitors, and partners in a professional, welcoming manner.
• Manage front desk and maintain organized, confidential environment.
• Answer and route phone calls, messages, and inquiries.
• Schedule and confirm appointments and clinical services.
• Assist new patients with registration and intake documentation.
• Support intake and admissions processes.
• Maintain accurate demographic, insurance, and contact information.
• Help patients understand appointment expectations and navigate the process.
• Monitor schedules and assist with changes and cancellations.
• Follow up on missed appointments and reconnect with care team.
• Coordinate communication among patients, therapists, providers, and care team.
• Assist with referrals to outside resources and recovery supports.
• Obtain and manage releases of information and patient records.
• Assist with insurance verification and authorizations.
• Support scanning, filing, and data entry.
• Track attendance and referrals for operations.
• Support Clinical Director and outpatient team.
