About the Job:
The Medical Front Desk Receptionist for OBGYN office plays a crucial role in managing the front office operations of a medical facility. This position is responsible for the timely submission of medical claims, patient registration, and ensuring a smooth check-in process for patients. The receptionist will handle various administrative tasks, including phone calls, faxes, and managing patient charts, while also providing excellent customer service to patients and insurance companies.
Responsibilities:
- Register and check in patients, processing all registration requirements including insurances and co-pays.
- Schedule new and follow up appointments.
- Perform insurance verification to ensure patient eligibility.
- Answer all patient or insurance telephone inquiries pertaining to assigned accounts.
- Set up patient payment plans and explain patient balances.
Requirements:
- 1-3 years of experience in a medical office setting. OBGYN experience preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of insurance guidelines including HMO/PPO, Medicare, Medicaid, and other payer requirements.
- Competent use of computer systems, software, and 10 key calculators.
- Familiarity with CPT and ICD-10 Coding.
- Effective communication abilities for phone contacts with insurance payers.
- Strong customer service skills for interacting with patients and medical staff.
- Ability to multitask and work well in a team environment.
- Knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping procedures.
