Job summary

The Dixon YMCA is seeking a friendly Part-Time Front Desk Assistant to greet members, verify sign-ins, and assist with registrations. You will operate YMCA software, manage cash drawer, and communicate policies to ensure a welcoming, safe environment.

Ideal candidates have strong customer service experience, basic computer skills (Word/Excel), and the ability to work 10–15 hours per week. Training in CPR/First Aid may be provided within 30 days.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • CPR/First Aid/AED certifications preferred.
  • Prior experience in sales or customer service helpful.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Computer aptitude for YMCA software and MS Office.

Responsibilities

  • Greet members and individuals as they enter the building.
  • Ensure members scan cards and program members sign in; account for all individuals.
  • Operate YMCA software, Word, and Excel.
  • Complete registration forms for members and program participants.
  • Count and balance cash drawer at start and during shift.
  • Communicate YMCA policies and guidelines effectively.
  • Know all programs and events offered by the YMCA.
  • Sell YMCA memberships and explain payment options.

Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Building relationships with all individuals who walk through the YMCA doors, providing assistance and information when requested or needed. Complete essential functions providing a quality experience for all focused on YMCA core values: caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • 1.Greet members and individuals as they enter the building.
  • 2.Ensure all members are scanning cards, program members are signing in and all other individuals are accounted for.
  • 3.Possess the computer aptitude to operate YMCA software programs, Word and Excel.
  • 4.Complete required member and program member registration forms.
  • 5.Accurately count cash drawer at the start of each shift, maintain and balance throughout shift.
  • 6.Understand and be able to communicate YMCA policies and guidelines.
  • 7.Knowledge of all programs and events provided by the YMCA.
  • 8.Sell YMCA memberships, understand all payment options emphasizing electronic monthly payment plans.
  • 9.Learn and become proficient in Daxko Operatoins software

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 1.High school graduate or equivalent.
  • 2.Previous experience working in sales or a customer services situation
  • 3.Experience preferred in one or more of the following areas: computer knowledge, art, human resources
  • 4.At least 18 years of age (The age minimum may be higher depending on state law and YMCA policies.)
  • 5.CPR, First Aid, AED certifications, and Child Abuse Prevention training within 30 days of hire date.
  • 6.Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Position Type: Part-Time (Front Desk)
Hours: Approximately 10–15 hours per week (with potential for additional coverage and cross-departmental hours)

Schedule & Hours
  • Work schedules are mutually agreed upon by the YMCA supervisor and the employee.
  • Standard part-time positions are capped at a maximum of 29.5 hours per week (excluding seasonal staff).
Physical & Technical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and move office supplies or inventory weighing up to 40 lbs.
  • Capacity to perform continuous computer-based tasks for up to three consecutive hours.
