Job summary

Hy-Vee is seeking people with a passion for customer service, a willingness to learn, and a team spirit to help make our customers’ lives easier, healthier and happier. As a Checker, you’ll operate the register, assist customers throughout the store, and help ensure every visit ends on a great note.

You’ll greet customers, handle payments, follow safety and compliance guidelines, stock and rotate merchandise, and support drive-up and carry-out service.

Qualifications

• No education or experience requirements; training provided.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and provide prompt, friendly service at the register.
• Operate the cash register and process all payment types including cash, checks, credit cards, coupons, and other methods.
• Count back change, issue receipts, and handle refunds or credits as needed.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal guidelines regarding WIC, food stamps, tobacco, liquor, and lottery items.
• Bag or box merchandise, assist with courtesy duties, and support drive-up and carry-out service.
• Stay knowledgeable about item lookup numbers, department numbers, and weekly ad changes.
