Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years in marine industry experience operating crane equipment.
  • One year experience operating heavy equipment such as 9K, 30K or 52K forklift.
  • Advance knowledge of flag signaling used in cargo handling.
  • Must read, write, and speak Basic English.
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and strong initiative.
  • Must establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues.
  • Adherence to safety protocols and a drug-free environment.
  • TWIC required.

Responsibilities

  • Operate friction 3900/4000/4100 class cranes and lattice booms to lift and move materials in a waterfront setting.
  • Control crane movements according to written, verbal, or signal instructions.
  • Inspect crane daily for safety issues and complete maintenance reports.
  • Lift and place machinery, equipment, containers, and cargo as directed.
  • Set up crane mats and outriggers prior to operations.
  • Read crane charts and understand instrument panels and control layouts.
  • Move levers and pedals to rotate crane and raise/lower load lines as needed.
  • Follow Flagman signals and supervision directions carefully.
  • Perform other duties as assigned and work in various weather conditions.
  • NCCCO NCCER certification preferred, not required.

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Crane Operator to join our maritime operations team. This is a hands-on opportunity for a safety-focused professional with experience operating heavy crane equipment in a fast-paced waterfront environment.

If you have experience operating friction 3900/4000/4100 class cranes, lattice boom cranes, and heavy equipment and take pride in working safely and efficiently, we want to hear from you!

This position is responsible for safely operating a Friction Crane to load and unload cargo from railcars and trucks within the terminal operations department. The Friction Crane Operator ensures cargo is handled safely and efficiently while following all company safety procedures, operational requirements, and established handling practices.

  • Manipulate and depress crane controls to regulate speed and direction of the crane and hoist movement according to written, verbal, or signal instructions.
  • Inspect crane for safety issues on a daily basis.
  • Completing daily and weekly inspection and maintenance reports
  • Lift position and place machinery, equipment, containers and cargo as directed.
  • Properly set-up crane mats and outriggers prior to start of operations.
  • Must know instrument and control panels.
  • Move levers and pedals to rotate crane on chassis to raise and lower crane boom and to raise and lower load line.
  • Read and understand crane charts.
  • Operate crane according to signals of Flagman.
  • Follow directions of supervision carefully.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Position requires working in all types of weather.
  • NCCCO NCCER Certification preferred, not required.
