Weeks Marine, Inc. is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to operate lattice boom cranes and various vehicles in a shipyard environment at Bourg Yard, LA. You will load and grade materials, trench for utilities, and ensure equipment is properly maintained.

The role requires the ability to follow complex instructions, work outdoors in all weather, and potentially train others in safe operation. A valid driver's license and proximity to Bourg Yard are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred as part of the general requirements.
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management/supervision.
• Proficiency with electrical, hand tools, power tools and layout tools as well as measurement tools.

Responsabilités

• Operate lattice boom cranes and a variety of vehicles and large heavy equipment in a shipyard setting.
• Load gravel, dirt and sand; smooth and grade roads; spread rock and gravel.
• Trench and construct ditches for installation of culverts, water pipes and sewer pipes; remove silt and debris.
• Check and maintain fluid levels and lubrication; ensure safe operation of equipment.
• Instruct and train employees in safe operation of construction equipment and tools and in job techniques and skills.
• Inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify causes of errors or defects.
• Estimate sizes, distances, and quantities; determine time, costs, resources, or materials needed for work.
• Inspect subordinate's work for compliance with contract plans and specifications and take corrective action as needed.
• Other duties as assigned

• VAlid Driver's License

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

• Operate lattice boom cranes and a variety of vehicles and large heavy equipment in a shipyard setting
• Load gravel, dirt and sand; smooth and grade roads; spread rock and gravel.
• Trench and construct ditches for installation of culverts, water pipes and sewer pipes; remove silt and debris.
• Knowledgeable of equipment in respect to checking and maintaining all fluid levels and lubrication.
• May be asked to instruct and train employees in the safe operation of construction equipment and tools and in job techniques and skills
• Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
• Estimating sizes, distances, and quantities; or determining time, costs, resources, or materials needed to perform a work activity.
• Inspect subordinate's work for compliance with the contract plans and specifications, point out deficiencies and explain and take any corrective action needed.

• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• May require a high school diploma or its equivalent with previous years of experience in the field or in a related area.
• Must possess strong working knowledge skills and abilities for position.
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management/supervision.
• Proficient in the safe and efficient use of electrical, hand tools, power tools and layout tools as well as measurement tools

Requirements

• Able to meet all physical requirements.
• Expected to climb and work at heights and in confined spaces (may exceed 200 ft)
• Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Able to work overtime, nights, and weekends as required by the workload
• Observe and comply with all safety and project rules. Performs other duties as required.
