Job summary

Loudoun County Public Schools seeks a head basketball coach at Broad Run High School for the winter season (November–February). The role involves leading the varsity program, supervising assistant coaches, and ensuring student-athlete success on and off the court.

The coach will collaborate with the athletic director and principal on staff hirings, eligibility, and safety protocols, while promoting sportsmanship, academics, and community pride throughout the season.

Qualifications

• Coaching experience at high school or college levels.
• CPR and First Aid training completed or in progress.
• Experience as a teacher or classified employee in Loudoun County Public Schools preferred.
• Virginia Teaching License candidate or full-time classified employee preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in maintaining high academic standards for student athletes.
• Assist athletic director and principal in hiring and/or retention of assistant coaches.
• Direct, supervise, and evaluate the performance of all assistant coaches.
• Coordinate with the athletic director to ensure proper insurance coverage for all athletes.
• Collaborate with head athletic coaches to operate a well-balanced athletic program.
• Foster values of athletics, sportsmanship, and school/community pride among participants and spectators.
• Direct training, conditioning, and performance of the varsity team and supervise the assistant coaches.
• Be present at varsity contests and supervise JV and freshmen events when possible.
• Advise on schedules for the sport and on selection/assessment of officials.
• Recommend equipment and supplies and manage inventory; report facility needs to maintenance.
• Organize recruitment of managers, scorekeepers, statisticians, and other support roles.
• Maintain records, statistics, and photos for athletic programs under supervision.
• Identify varsity letters or JV/freshman certificates for eligible students.
