Job summary

Sprouts Farmers Market is seeking a Meat Clerk to join our team. You will deliver outstanding customer service, handle meat products safely, and assist with daily department tasks in a fast-paced store environment.

The role involves receiving and preparing meats, guiding customers to products, and maintaining cleanliness and safety standards throughout the department, with a focus on accurate weighing and portioning.

Qualifications

• Be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent and have a basic knowledge of math, weights and measures.
• Dependable and reliable; perform other related duties as assigned.
• Outgoing and friendly behavior; a positive attitude and the ability to interact with customers.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays.
• Good communication skills; ability to take direction and participate in a team environment.
• General housekeeping; clean and sanitize work area.
• Adhere to safety, health, weights and measures regulations, and recipes.
• Stand for up to 4 hours continuously, up to 8 hours per shift; walk up to 2 miles per shift.
• Able to work inside a temperature controlled area and maintain clean work area.
• Possess good vision for handling knives and equipment.
• Lift/carry 25–90 lbs., move pallets up to 500 lbs., and handle racks/tables up to 70 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Provide a high level of customer service and apply safe meat handling procedures.
• Receive, store, and grind meats; unloads and transports meat from delivery trucks.
• Count and weigh incoming articles and compare to invoices; rotate meats to prevent aging.
• Assist customers with questions, special orders, and store product locations.
• Follow the department’s Clean as You Go and Fresh at 4 programs.
