French Teacher (Core Subject & Social Studies in French)
St-Laurent Academy is a dynamic and inspiring, JK to Grade 12, Private School located in Ottawa, Ontario.
We are growing significantly, recently purchasing a new school space in the beautiful Rockcliffe/Lindenlea neighbourhood, and are currently accepting applications for full-time: Core/Homeroom Elementary Teachers for 2025 - 2026 School Year.
Positions:
- French / French Social Studies Teacher (Grades 1 - Grade 8).
Job Types: Full-Time.
Note: candidates must be located/living in Ottawa or its immediate regions, or in the process of relocating to Ottawa, in order to be considered for this position
Qualifications:
- Must be eligible to work in Ontario.
- B.Ed with a focus on French Language, as well as Ontario Teaching Certification (OCT) in good standing. Note: equivalent certification is accepted, with the confirmation that the candidate is and/or will be applying for OCT standing.
- Classroom experience is essential.
- Following the Ontario Curriculum, with the enrichment components provided at St-Laurent Academy, you are responsible for ensuring our students are engaged, successful and building their skills in French via teaching Social Studies in French.
- Lesson/Unit/Long Range planning, Lesson facilitation & Assessment Of, For & As learning.
- Collaborating with a French Team specialists, as well as communicating and working alongside our Core/Homeroom teachers and Administration.
- Excellent classroom management, organization, and planning skills.
- Excellent oral, written, communication, and presentation skills in French & English.
- Computer literacy: proficient and knowledgeable with all Google Suite products (Google Classroom, Docs, Slides, Forms, Sheets), Microsoft Office (Excel), and Smart-board Technology.
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the individual needs of each student.
- Understands the needs of students and goes beyond the call of duty.
- Ability to collaborate with colleagues, administration, and parents.
- Flexible, with an ability to manage to change strategies, environments, and needs.
- Core characteristics with regards to kindness, patience, creativity, positive energy and a love for teaching is essential.
The following assets are preferred but not required:
- Experience in a private/independent school.
- Experience/Education in Special Education is valued highly.
- Coaching and Leadership experiences (the Arts, Sports, Clubs, etc.) are important.
