Job summary

Montessori School of Chevy Chase Inc in Washington, DC is seeking a passionate French-speaking Montessori School Assistant to join our dedicated team in a bilingual, child-centered environment where creativity and independence are celebrated.

You will support lead teachers, communicate with students in French, supervise during recess, prepare materials, observe progress, and foster a safe, inclusive classroom. A college degree or CDA is required; Montessori certification is a plus.

Qualifications

• Fluency in French and experience with young children in education or childcare.
• Familiarity with Montessori philosophy and teaching methods.
• Montessori certification is a plus.
• Must have a college degree or a CDA.
• Warm, patient and nurturing demeanor with a love for working with children.
• Ability to pass a background check and meet DC compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Support the lead Montessori teachers.
• Communicate with students in French.
• Guide and supervise children during recess and transitions.
• Prepare and maintain Montessori learning materials and classroom environment.
• Observe and document individual student progress and developmental milestones.
• Build positive relationships with students, families, and staff through clear communication.
• Assist in creating a safe, inclusive, and nurturing classroom atmosphere.
• Take children to the bathroom and change diapers when necessary.
