Job summary

Lexroom is building the AI platform for legal work at scale. As a Legal Engineer, you will own the proprietary database, ensuring accuracy, relevance, and defensibility as laws evolve, and help shape new features with AI engineers.

You’ll work at the intersection of law, product, and AI, translating legal needs into actionable input for product development while owning data quality and domain expertise in civil, commercial, labor, privacy, and banking law.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as a practicing lawyer, preferably in civil law.
• Fluent in French and English.
• Genuine interest in an alternative, challenging career path outside traditional practice
• Strong analytical rigor and attention to detail
• Outstanding problem‑solving skills
• Clear communicator, able to translate legal requirements for technical teams
• Curiosity about AI and legal technology; no prior AI experience required
• Bonus if experience in Legal Engineering, Product or Program Management; master's in Law & Tech

Responsibilities

• Own the construction, maintenance, and strategic development of our Proprietary Database.
• Shape new product features by applying legal judgment to verify outputs for accuracy.
• Collaborate with AI engineers to improve the AI system’s reasoning capability.
• Lead data validation and guidance for high‑quality training datasets with data annotators and engineers.
• Define data acquisition priorities and identify authoritative sources by practice area.
• Set the tone and best practices as one of the first hires in this function.
