Job summary

The French American School of Denver is seeking a French Immersion Teaching Assistant for K-5. This full-time role supports the lead classroom teacher, helps with instruction, supervision, and materials preparation, and models French language use throughout the day.

Ideal candidates hold a Bachelor’s degree, are bilingual in French and English, and have experience with children in educational settings. Authorization to work in the United States is required; visa sponsorship is not available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Strong bilingual communication in French and English.
• Experience with children in an educational or childcare setting.
• Authorization to work in the United States. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship at this time.
• First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).

Responsibilities

• Support instruction in a French Immersion classroom (K-5) under the lead teacher.
• Model and encourage the use of spoken and written French throughout the school day.
• Assist with small group and/or one-on-one instruction in both academic and enrichment settings.
• Help prepare classroom materials and organize learning activities.
• Supervise students during classroom transitions, lunch, recess, and school events.
• Foster a warm, respectful, and inclusive classroom climate that supports all learners.
• Reinforce behavioral expectations and school norms positively and consistently.
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to meet individual student needs.
• Communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and families (in French or English as appropriate).
• Participate in staff meetings, school events and professional development sessions.
• Must be able to work with all learners in a fast paced, school setting
• Work with all students as assigned to best support supervision and instruction
• Be flexible in schedules and duties assigned

What You’ll Do:

As a French Immersion Teaching Assistant, you will support the lead French classroom teacher in fostering a safe, engaging, and linguistically rich learning environment. You will assist with classroom instruction, student supervision, preparation of materials, and individualized student support, all while modeling French language use.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Bachelor’s Degree

Preferred:

• B.A. or higher in education, child development, or a related field.
• Prior experience in a bilingual, immersion, or international school setting.
