Description

The French Speaking Kindergarten Teacher delivers developmentally appropriate, LDOE standards-aligned instruction in French while fostering students' academic, social, emotional, and language development. This role creates a nurturing and engaging learning environment where young learners develop foundational skills in literacy, mathematics, science, social studies, and oral language through immersive French instruction.

The French Speaking Kindergarten Teacher supports student achievement through thoughtful lesson planning, active supervision, positive classroom culture, ongoing assessment, and strong collaboration with school leaders, colleagues, and families.

The successful candidate must maintain high academic and behavioral expectations, support language acquisition through immersion practices, and uphold professional standards for student supervision, confidentiality, and school operations.

Core Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate instruction aligned to the school's curriculum and French immersion model.
  • Foster students' growth in early literacy, numeracy, oral language, social-emotional learning, and independence.
  • Create and maintain a safe, nurturing, and structured classroom environment that promotes student engagement and positive behavior.
  • Monitor student progress through formal and informal assessments and adjust instruction to meet individual student needs.
  • Differentiate instruction and implement accommodations, modifications, and intervention plans as assigned.
  • Maintain accurate attendance, grades, and required instructional records.
  • Communicate regularly and professionally with families regarding student progress and classroom expectations.
  • Collaborate with administrators, support staff, and colleagues to support student success and school initiatives.
  • Supervise students during assigned duties and school activities.
  • Write a weekly newsletter for parents and guardians.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Principal or designee.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Native or near-native fluency in French.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain all required employment clearances, including fingerprint-based criminal history review and any state-required child protection clearances.
  • Ability to complete all required onboarding and annual compliance training.
  • Strong classroom management, communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to create a positive, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for young children.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Louisiana teaching certification in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, French, or a related field.
  • Previous teaching experience in kindergarten, elementary, or French immersion settings.
  • Experience supporting multilingual learners and students with diverse learning needs.
  • Knowledge of child development and best practices in early childhood education.
  • Bilingual proficiency in French and English.
Compliance & Conditions of Employment
  • The selected candidate must meet all Louisiana nonpublic school employment, credentialing, and eligibility requirements for the position.
  • The selected candidate must successfully complete all required pre-employment screening requirements, including employment verification, education verification, reference checks, fingerprint-based criminal history review, and any required child protection clearances.
  • The selected candidate must complete required onboarding, annual compliance training, mandatory reporter training, and any other training required for the role.
  • The selected candidate must follow school policies and all required workplace, privacy, and student protection standards.
  • Employment is contingent upon verification of identity and authorization to work in the United States, successful completion of all required background and eligibility checks, and submission of all required employment documents.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, speak, hear, and actively supervise students throughout the workday.
  • Ability to move through classrooms, hallways, playgrounds, cafeterias, stairwells, and other campus spaces and to respond appropriately in routine and emergency situations.
  • Ability to use a computer, telephone, and standard classroom and office equipment.
  • Ability to lift and carry instructional materials, classroom supplies, and equipment consistent with the needs of the role.
