Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Position involves safety-sensitive duties and extensive travel (>95%).

Responsibilities

• Understand and adhere to operating rules, safety rules, and company policies; ensure crew compliance with train orders and regulations.
• Perform railcar switching by coupling/uncoupling cars and routing traffic to fit train configurations.
• Receive and interpret instructions from dispatchers and Trainmaster; coordinate with locomotive engineer and crew.
• Complete paperwork for car movements and maintain records for proper billing.
• Observe signals and signs; communicate with engineer, dispatcher, and crew via radios and hand signals.
• Inspect trains and equipment and perform small repairs as needed.
