Job summary

Norfolk Southern seeks a Conductor to safely build and move freight trains, inspect equipment, and maintain compliance with safety rules. Training covers classroom, field, and on‑the‑job experiences, with initial weeks at the Training Center in McDonough, GA and travel accommodations provided.

Expect on-call shifts, travel away from home, and union participation within 60 days after training. First-year earnings average around $70k, with experienced roles reaching over $84k annually and options

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Must hold a valid driver's license and have reliable transportation.
• Ability to report to work within 90 minutes.
• Clean driving record in past 36 months with no drug/alcohol-related issues.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
• Must pass pre-employment FRA drug and alcohol screening.

Responsibilities

• Build and inspect trains, railcars, and equipment for safe operation.
• Operate remote control locomotives and perform coupling, alignment, hand brakes, and railcar riding tasks.
• Communicate effectively with crews, dispatchers, and yard controllers.
• Maintain accurate documentation and comply with FRA and company safety regulations.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
