Job summary

Norfolk Southern Corp. is seeking a Train Conductor in the United States to safely build, couple, and move freight trains. The role includes operating remote-control locomotives, inspecting equipment, and maintaining required documentation.

Training is provided, with on-call duties and a strict readiness standard. Salary and benefits are noted, including a on-the-job training program, and opportunities for advancement within a large national network.

Qualifications

• Experience working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Experience with heavy equipment or physically demanding roles.
• Experience working non-traditional shifts, on call, and/or 12+ hour shifts.

Responsibilities

• Build and inspect trains, railcars, and equipment for safe operation.
• Operate remote control locomotives and perform coupling, alignment, hand brakes, and riding railcars.
• Communicate effectively with crews, dispatchers, and yard controllers.
• Maintain accurate documentation and comply with FRA and company safety rules.
• Possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Be ready to report to work within 90 minutes and work 24/7 on-call.
• Meet FRA medical and safety requirements and maintain a clean driving record.
