Norfolk Southern Corp. is seeking a Louisville, KY Train Conductor. This seniority-based position includes a $5,000 retention bonus and structured training, with on-call duties and frequent travel away from home.

Trainees will undergo on-the-job training at NS facilities and must complete safety and regulatory requirements. Contributors build and inspect freight trains, operate remote control locomotives, and manage documentation while complying with FRA rules.

Qualifications

• Seniority-based job: start on the extra board until bid on a regular assignment.
• Must be available to work on-call, 24/7, with as little as 90 minutes’ notice.
• Experience working outdoors in various weather conditions is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Build and inspect trains, railcars, and equipment for safe operation.
• Operate remote control locomotives and handle coupling, drawbars, and hand brakes.
• Communicate effectively with crews, dispatchers, and yard controllers.
• Maintain accurate FRA-compliant documentation and safety records.
• Must hold a valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation.
