Job summary

HDR, Inc. seeks a Freight Railroad Track Intern to gain real-world experience supporting the design of track and supporting facilities for freight railroad clients.

You will work under supervision to assist in checking drawings and calculations and develop material lists. As an employee-owned leader in transportation solutions, HDR offers mentoring, exposure to multi-disciplinary teams, and field travel opportunities across the U.S.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program
• Attention to detail
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills
• Basic Microsoft Office skills
• Active participation in employee-owned culture is a must

Responsibilities

• Gain real-world experience on projects related to track design and supporting facilities for freight railroad clients
• Assist in checking drawings and calculations, developing material lists and quantities, and reviewing submittals
• Assist in mentoring programs and connect with company leaders
• Position may require travel and/or field work within the U.S.
• Perform other duties as needed
• Preemployment background check and drug screening; random testing after hire
• Have a valid license to operate motor vehicles per state law
• Preemployment drug test required
