Job summary

XPO Logistics, Inc. is hiring a Freight Operations Supervisor to lead all freight operations on a shift-by-shift basis. You will develop procedures, manage workloads, and supervise hourly staff to meet production goals while controlling costs and maintaining safety standards.

The role requires 2 years of related experience, LTL and DOT knowledge, and the ability to work varied shifts, including nights and weekends. Company benefits start day one.

Qualifications

• 2 years of related work experience in warehouse, distribution, supply chain, transportation or similar environment.
• Knowledge of the LTL industry, hazardous materials regulations and DOT rules and regulations.
• Willingness to work days, evenings, nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise all aspects of freight operations.
• Develop and implement strategic work procedures to meet department demands.
• Evaluate, manage, assign and supervise workloads and tasks.
• Supervise hourly staff and address workplace concerns.
• Ensure production goals by managing tonnage, payroll and admin tasks.
• Plan hourly schedules to meet daily goals and reduce costs.
• Enforce company, FMCSR, OSHA, CCMTA, NSC and DOT policies and rules.
• Ensure timely, damage-free processing, handling, loading and delivery of freight.
• Coach employees on techniques and quality, including new hire evaluations.
• Direct a team to meet or exceed productivity goals.
• Make hiring, suspension, and termination recommendations.
• Present action plans to improve load averages and model compliance.
• Participate in internal safety and engagement committees.
• Train staff on safety rules and processes.
• Monitor shift organization to ensure safety and productivity.
• Conduct daily staff meetings and communicate policy changes.
• Inspect tools and equipment for safe operation and address issues.
• Provide ideas for operational improvements within the shift and service center.
• Champion XPO values and uphold high standards with the team.
• Minimize shipment rehandle by prioritizing direct loading while maintaining quality.
