Job summary

BSI USA is seeking an Air & Ocean Freight Operation Executive in Los Angeles to manage ocean and air shipments, support customers through the shipment lifecycle, and collaborate with Product and Sales to deliver reliable logistics solutions.

The role emphasizes customer interaction, teamwork, and growth toward combined Operations + Sales support responsibilities. Minimum 2 years in freight forwarding and familiar with air/ocean operations is preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years' experience in freight forwarding, logistics operations or a closely related logistics environment.
• Practical experience handling air freight and/or ocean freight operations.
• Good understanding of the end-to-end shipment process and day-to-day freight forwarding documentation.
• Strong customer service mindset with clear, professional communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate bookings, shipping documentation, pre-alerts, customs clearance arrangements, cargo tracking, collection and final delivery.
• Liaise with airlines, shipping lines, co-loaders, hauliers, customs brokers, warehouses and overseas offices.
• Provide timely shipment updates and respond to operational inquiries and exceptions.
• Maintain accurate records, shipment files, costs and supporting documents.
• Support job costing and billing readiness with Finance and colleagues.
• Assist Sales and Product teams with operational input for inquiries and quotations.
• Onboard new customers and trade lanes, including SOP development and handover.

Job description

We're looking for an Air & Ocean Freight Operation Executive to join our US team! This role will manage both ocean and air freight shipments, support customers throughout the shipment lifecycle, and work closely with Product and Sales colleagues to deliver reliable and commercially sound logistics solutions. The position is particularly suitable for an operation professional who enjoys customer interaction and team collaboration and who would like to develop progressively towards a broader Operations + Sales Support role.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate bookings, shipping documentation, pre-alerts, customs clearance arrangements, cargo tracking, collection and final delivery.
• Liaise proactively with airlines, shipping lines, co-loaders, hauliers, customs brokers, warehouses, overseas offices and other service providers.
• Provide timely and accurate shipment updates to customers and respond promptly to operational enquiries and exceptions.
• Maintain accurate operational records, shipment files, costs and supporting documentation in accordance with company procedures.
• Support timely job costing, supplier invoice checking and billing readiness in cooperation with Finance and relevant colleagues.
• Support Sales and Product colleagues with operational input for customer inquiries, quotations and new business opportunities.
• Assist with onboarding new customers and new trade lanes, including shipment requirements, SOP development and operational handover.
• Minimum 2 years' experience in freight forwarding, logistics operations or a closely related logistics environment.
• Practical experience handling air freight and/or ocean freight operations, with willingness and ability to support other transport modes.
• Good understanding of the end-to-end shipment process and day-to-day freight forwarding documentation.
• Strong customer service mindset with clear, professional communication skills.
• Good organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities.
• Strong team-working attitude and willingness to collaborate across Operations, Product and Sales functions.
• Interest in developing beyond pure operations into customer-facing and sales-support responsibilities.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Preferred / Advantageous Experience

• Working knowledge of US import and export customs clearance processes, including ACE and ISF filing.
• Dangerous Goods knowledge or certification; relevant training can be provided where required.
• Previous experience working within a Chinese-headquartered, Asian-headquartered or cross-cultural logistics organization.
