Job summary

Akima is seeking a shipping and receiving clerk for the Commercial Freight Office on Joint Base Lewis McChord. You will process freight, coordinate with customers for shipping documents, and verify orders against bills of lading and manifests to ensure accurate shipments and records.

You will track shipments, communicate with customers about status, and work with carriers to secure the best rates. On-site work with competitive benefits is offered.

Qualifications

• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• High School Diploma or GED certificate.
• Must be able to pass a drug screening.
• Must be able to pass a background investigation.
• Must be able to obtain DOD CAC.

Responsibilities

• Process and document freight for shipment using automated systems.
• Coordinate with customers to obtain information needed for shipping documents.
• Verify orders, package shipments, and prepare records of goods shipped or received.
• Communicate with customers to understand shipping needs and preferences.
• Negotiate with carriers to secure rates and terms and prepare required documents.
• Track shipments, update customers on status, and resolve issues or delays.
