Job summary

Saia LTL Freight in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking a Warehouse/Freight Associate to load and unload trailers using forklifts and pallet jacks. You will verify shipments, follow safety and QC procedures, and maintain a safe work environment.

Ideal candidates have forklift experience, a high school diploma or GED, and forklift certification or hazmat training. Attainments will support efficient, cost-effective shipments across our national network.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
Warehouse/freight/dock/forklift/pallet jack experience preferred.
Forklift certification or hazmat training is preferred.
Ability to lift and move objects of various shapes, sizes and weights.

Responsibilities

Load and unload trailers using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment in compliance with regulations.
Operate dock tools to ensure freight is loaded securely, maintaining straps, bars, airbags, cardboard and dunnage.
Load, recoup, rewrap, and stack freight as needed.
Verify shipments by reading labels and securing freight for loading/unloading.
Follow bill of lading and quality control procedures for timely, claims-free shipments.
Log, report, and process shortages and damages to freight.
Promote a safe and clean work environment.
