Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. is seeking a dedicated Dockworker to safely load and unload freight, using forklifts and manual methods while ensuring correct items go on the right trucks.

Responsibilities include securing freight, following DOT guidelines, and using the Yard Management System to track shipments across the service center. Strong attention to safety and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Must have safe and efficient lifting and transporting procedures.
• Familiarity with freight movement forms (shipping orders, manifests, freight bills).
• Ability to use dock yard management system to track shipment locations.
• Must be available to meet customer pickup and delivery schedules.
• Able to operate handheld tablet and read shipping labels.

Responsibilities

• Load/unload freight on trailers using forklift or manually per DOT guidelines.
• Move freight throughout the service center on non-forgiving surfaces.
• Monitor shipment locations with the Yard Management System.
• Read shipping labels and complete required freight movement forms.
• Secure freight inside trailers using pallets, straps or rope.
