Job summary

Virnig Manufacturing, Inc. is seeking a Freight Coordinator to manage and coordinate the transportation of freight, ensuring timely, accurate, and cost-effective delivery of goods.

The role acts as a liaison between customers, carriers, warehouse staff, and internal teams to schedule shipments and track movements. The position requires coordinating domestic and international shipments, maintaining shipping documentation, and resolving transportation issues while supporting multiple departments

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in logistics, transportation, shipping, or freight coordination.
• Experience with TMS and ERP software preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate domestic and/or international freight shipments from origin to destination.
• Schedule pickups and deliveries with carriers, suppliers, and customers.
• Monitor shipment status and communicate updates, delays, or issues with the Plant Manager and Shipping Lead.
• Prepare and maintain shipping documents, bills of lading, freight invoices, and customs paperwork as required.
• Resolve shipping discrepancies, damages, shortages, and transportation-related claims.
• Collaborate with warehouse, production, purchasing, and customer service teams to meet delivery deadlines.
• Maintain accurate records in transportation management systems (TMS), ERP systems, and shipping databases.
• Trace all shipments to ensure on-time deliveries when necessary.

The Freight Coordinator is responsible for managing and coordinating the transportation of freight to ensure timely, accurate, and cost-effective delivery of goods. This role serves as a liaison between customers, carriers, warehouse personnel, and internal teams to schedule shipments, track freight movements, resolve transportation issues, and maintain accurate shipping documentation.

Compensation & Hours

• $26.44/hourly
• Hours- M-Thursday 7 am - 4 pm, Friday 7:00 am - 1:30 pm

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in logistics, transportation, shipping, or freight coordination.
• Knowledge of manufacturing and/or machinery is helpful.
• Experience with transportation management systems (TMS) and ERP software preferred.
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs.
• Frequent bending, twisting, pushing, pulling, and reaching required throughout the shift.
• Regular exposure to repetitive motions involving hands, wrists, arms, and shoulders.
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time
• Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, helmet, ear plugs, and safety glasses.
