Job summary

CSX is seeking a Freight Conductor to safely coordinate train crews, place rail cars for loading/unloading, and make up/break down trains in yards or facilities. New hires qualify for retention bonuses after year one and year two. A drug test, medical exam, and background check are required.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older and able to read and comprehend instructions including operating rules and bulletins.
• Proficient verbal and written communication skills are required.
• Ability to understand regulatory documents and written communications.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with railroad rules, FRA regulations, signals, and train orders.
• Inspect equipment on cars prior to departures and receive/transmit information by radio/phone.
• Work with customers to ensure accurate movement and placement of cars and provide safe operations.
