Job summary

BuyWander seeks a Transportation Manager in Seattle, WA to own inbound freight end-to-end. You’ll negotiate rates, manage lanes, and build a carrier network that supports rapid growth. You’ll track performance, minimize detention, and drive on-time deliveries across facilities.

The role requires strong communication with drivers, brokers, and internal teams, plus experience with a TMS or internal tracking platform. DOE benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Experience negotiating rates with carriers.
• Track record of reducing freight cost beyond coordination.
• Strong phone communication with drivers and dispatchers.
• Experience with tracking/reporting tools and platforms.
• Excellent organizational skills managing many moving parts.

Responsibilities

• Own freight cost as a percentage of net revenue and drive it down.
• Negotiate rates, lane pricing, and terms with carriers and brokers; build and manage a carrier network.
• Maintain a carrier scorecard covering cost, on-time performance, damage, and responsiveness.
• Identify consolidation, backhaul, and lane-optimization opportunities as footprint grows.
• Manage and pursue freight claims for damage, shortage, and service failures.
• Schedule inbound deliveries and prevent dock congestion.
• Coordinate appointment windows and communicate delivery expectations to drivers and teams.
• Track loads from booking to delivery in Chuk; provide real-time visibility.
• Report KPIs and surface trends to leadership.
• Onboard new carriers to improve reliability and cost performance.
• Build the carrier network for new market launches.
