Summary: The Freight Broker 2 is responsible for coordinating and executing customer freight requests through the most efficient and cost-effective means, while maintaining superior service levels. This role plays a critical part in supporting our logistics operations, managing carrier relationships, and ensuring adherence to customer expectations. The Freight Broker 2 operates with limited supervision and collaborates with both internal teams and external partners to drive operational excellence.

Responsibilities

• Broker freight and dispatch transportation vendors based on client demand, cost, and service requirements.
• Maintain high levels of service (95% and better) and reliability with core carriers through consistent communication, performance monitoring, and proactive issue resolution.
• Source and negotiate carrier rates through cold calling and relationship management.
• Utilize transportation management systems (TMS) such as FMS to manage shipments.
• Ensure timely and cost-effective movement of freight in compliance with customer and internal standards.
• Collaborate with team leaders and cross-functional departments to support efficient logistics planning.
• Maintain strong communication with carriers and customers to ensure expectations are met or exceeded.
• Demonstrate professional behavior in all interactions, representing the company’s values and standards.
• Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Escalate and proactively resolve any service or performance issues with carriers.
• Perform other related duties and participate in assigned projects as required.
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent relevant experience.
• 3–5 years of experience in freight brokerage, dispatching, or third-party logistics (3PL).
• Proven ability to analyze transportation options and solve moderately complex logistics issues.
• Strong understanding of carrier networks, pricing models, freight classes, and shipping regulations.
• Demonstrated experience using transportation management systems and Microsoft Office tools.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to interpret maps, communicate route directions, and manage load planning.
• Strong attention to detail, time management, and prioritization skills in a fast-paced environment.
• Team-oriented with a strong sense of accountability and customer service.
  
  

Pay range: $45,000 - $65,000
