Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented medical communications editor to review and ensure the accuracy, professionalism, and style consistency of various scientific and medical communication materials. This role involves meticulous editing, research, and collaboration to uphold industry standards and client expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Perform comprehensive editorial reviews, including copy editing, fact-checking, and final proofreading at designated stages.
  2. Review content for accuracy, grammar, spelling, and adherence to AMA or client style guides.
  3. Research permissions for reuse of copyrighted materials, including NCCN Guidelines and copyright clearance.
  4. Participate in project meetings, including status updates and kickoff sessions.
  5. Ensure high-quality formatting and visual presentation of materials.
  6. Create and update style guides for assigned accounts.
  7. Build strong working relationships with internal teams and colleagues.
  8. Accurately track and document time spent on each project.
  9. Mentor and support less experienced team members and freelancers.
  10. Promote effective communication within the team.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English or related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in medical communications, with agency experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in AMA style and familiarity with detailed style guides.
  • Skilled in digital editing tools such as Adobe Acrobat Pro and Microsoft Word track changes.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5-8 years of experience in medical communications.
  • Master’s degree or professional certifications (e.g., ELS, CMPP).

The hourly rate for this position ranges from $65 to $70, depending on qualifications and experience.
