In this role, you will review all medical communications pieces (slide presentations of scientific data; scientific communication platforms; print pieces [eg, monographs, brochures, workbooks]; meeting materials; storyboards, videos, and scripts; KOL profiles, etc) developed by Cadent, ensuring all are accurate and professional from a grammatical, scientific, and style perspective and meet client and industry standards. You will:

  • Perform all editorial reviews (ie, initial full-edit through release), including copy edits, W4Ws, check changes, and do a final read at designated times in the job life cycle.
  • Review for content, grammar, and spelling as well as for AMA or client style and consistency within the piece and among related projects.
  • Research permissions for reuse of copyrighted material in Cadent projects (both NCCN Guidelines and Copyright Clearance).
  • Attend status and kickoff meetings for assigned accounts.
  • Ensure the quality of format and visual quality of layout.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive style guides for all assigned accounts.
  • Establish solid working relationships with all internal teams and editorial colleagues.
  • Accurately track time spent on each job and enter it in the time-tracking system on a daily basis.
  • Assist as a training/mentoring resource for freelance or newer employees.
  • Promote a collaborative approach among team members by taking the initiative in establishing and maintaining the flow of communications.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English or related field.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in medical communications.
  • Proficient in AMA style and following detailed style guides.
  • Proficient in basic grammar and spelling rules.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (ie, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Skilled in editing digitally using software such as Adobe Acrobat Pro markup tools and track changes in Microsoft Word.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and prioritize tasks.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to interact with internal team members.
  • Willingness to assume a mentoring role within the Editorial department.

Desired Requirements:

  • 5-8 years’ experience in medical communications.
  • Master’s degree in a related field and/or related certification (eg, ELS, CMPP).
