Job summary

SNY is seeking a skilled freelance Jib Operator to join the Studio Operations team at our New York studio. You will operate the Cammate Jib and handheld cameras, collaborating with the Director and technical staff on live, taped, and automated programs.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, 2 years of live multi-camera work, and the ability to lift 25+ lbs. Flexibility for non-traditional hours is a must in a fast-paced studio.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (Communications) or equivalent work experience.
• Two years of live, multi-camera studio production experience preferred.
• Knowledge of Cammate Jib and Ikegami HD cameras.
• Ability to lift 25+ lbs and set up studio gear.
• Proficiency in iNEWS or similar newsroom software is a plus.

About theRole:

SNY is seeking a skilled freelance Jib Operator with a passion for sports to join our Studio Operations team. This role works with our technical and news team in our production environment operating the Cammate Jib and handheld cameras. This role requires flexibility to work non-traditional hours, including weekends and holidays, from our studio at 4 World Trade Center.

What You’ll Do

• In coordination with the Director, create and offer visually interesting and varied subject shots.
• Work with technical and news staff to satisfy production needs for live, taped and automated programming under supervision of the Director and Operations management.
• Ability to proficiently operate Cammate Jib and hand-held cameras equally as dictated by productions demands.
• Assist in maintaining the above cameras and rigs in good working order.
• Willingness and ability to train others as needed for back-up purposes.

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s Degree (preferably in Communications) or equivalent work experience required.
• Two (2) years of experience in live, multi-camera studio production preferred, with related camera operator experience required.
• Knowledge of Cammate Jib along with Ikegami HD cameras.
• Ability to identify and trouble shoot mechanical issues with equipment and set up.
• Must be able to lift 25+lbs, set / strike studio gear.
• Proficiency in iNEWS or similar newsroom software system a plus.
• With proper training, serve as fill-in for all other Tech 1 positions as needed (i.e. Robotic Camera, Teleprompter, Video Playback, Video Shading).
• You have excellent interpersonal & communication skills and are a collaborative team player who works well with others, in a fast paced, dynamic studio environment.
