Job summary

Reboot Monkey in the United States is seeking a Freelance Data Center Technician to deliver on-demand support for global data centers. You will install, configure, and maintain servers and networking gear, and troubleshoot complex hardware and software issues.

This role requires independent work across remote teams and on-site visits as needed. Ideal candidates have 3+ years in data center operations, strong TCP/IP/DNS knowledge, and experience with VMware or Hyper-V.

Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field preferred but not required.
• 3+ years of experience in data center operations, with independence on freelance projects.
• Extensive hands-on experience with Cisco and Juniper networking devices.
• Strong proficiency in Linux and Windows-based systems, with security updates.
• Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, VLANs and virtualization.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and maintain servers, networking equipment, and other hardware to ensure optimal performance and uptime.
• Monitor data center operations remotely and on-site, diagnosing and resolving hardware/software/connectivity issues.
• Configure, manage, and troubleshoot Cisco and Juniper routers, switches, and firewalls for secure network ops.
• Manage Linux and Windows-based systems, applying updates, patches, and security enhancements.
• Document installations, repairs, and system performance for remote management.
• Implement and maintain security protocols to protect data center infrastructure.
• Collaborate with remote IT teams, vendors, and stakeholders to drive efficiency and innovation.
