Are you a freelancer who wants to work with an AV company that does some really cool projects? We currently have a lot of work coming up over the next 3+ months to keep a few freelancers busy. These positions have the potential to become full-time as we grow.
If you are a self‑motivated quick learner who enjoys having the freedom to complete tasks as you see fit (we do not hand‑hold or micromanage here!) — apply to be on our freelancers! We are continually learning new things, working with different products and manufacturers to meet the exact needs of our clients, and our clients bring us many fun projects — we are not doing the same boring thing everyday. While travel to job sites is required, most of our jobs are local to western PA.
We are a family‑run small business that has been in the AV industry for over 20 years. Working with us won’t be your boring; the last thing you will hear is “but that’s the way we’ve always done it.” If you’ve got an idea for improvement we want to hear it! This also means that things can change fast. We implement good ideas quickly, so we need all of our team members to be flexible and quick learners to keep up!
Fresh Tech’s Immutable Laws are as follows:
For larger jobs, our freelance contractors will work with our Lead Install Technician to complete projects on site. For smaller jobs, we may send a freelance contractor to complete a service call or small project, depending on your skill set.
Review project documentation and execute the plans laid out in AV design documents (including the ability to understand signal flows and be able to read a schematic).
Operate, install, configure, and commission equipment such as displays, loudspeakers, control panels, microphones, lighting, rigging, cables, etc. (put a show file together, assemble racks, create a couple of lighting looks, set up cameras, align projectors, etc.).
Knowledge of how to integrate AV systems onto a network.
Inspect, troubleshoot, and correct your own work — as well as general troubleshooting skills.
Pulling, dressing, and terminating AVL (Audio, Video, Lighting) and networking cables.
Access and use vendor tech support.
Report to site lead or project manager the status of tasks assigned.
Maintain safe, neat, and tidy work areas throughout the project.
Load and unload vehicles for installs and deliveries.
Adhere to OSHA standards for all phases of the job.
Complete support calls, including: remote support, on‑site support, troubleshooting, etc. This includes supporting our past projects and existing AV systems our clients need assistance with.
Must be physically able to climb ladders, scaffolding, lift heavy items up to 50lbs, and operate power tools.
If you believe you would be a great fit for us and you have similar values, please apply! Please be sure to include the area of AV you are the most skilled in (Audio/Video/Lighting) in the subject line of the email (or in the Subject Input on the application). We can’t wait to meet you!
One thing I like about working at Fresh Tech is that we don’t do the same thing everyday; I’m always learning something new. The leadership really cares about us as individuals — they’re dedicated not just to the growth of the company, but also to our growth as individuals. — M.W.
