OpenTrain is seeking a FreeCAD CAD Question Author to create high-quality training content from multi-part CAD assemblies in native FreeCAD format. You will examine geometry, assembly relationships, engineering function, and related design information, then turn those findings into precise questions with exact, verifiable answers.
The role is listed as entry level, but it requires substantial technical knowledge and the ability to analyze complex mechanical designs. It is especially suited to an expert or consultant with strong technical communication, accuracy, and clarity.
You will develop objective, precise, and non-guessable question-and-answer sets from multi-part FreeCAD assemblies. Each answer must be grounded in the design and verifiable from the available technical information.
You will also communicate clearly while clarifying requirements, responding to review feedback, and documenting insights or ambiguities that arise during the authoring process.
You should have an extensive background in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or industrial design, together with strong foundational CAD knowledge. Experience analyzing multi-part assemblies and interpreting engineering drawings is required.
Direct FreeCAD experience is valuable, while comparable experience with another CAD platform can also support success. You must be able to turn complex technical concepts into detailed engineering questions and training material.
This opportunity may suit a mechanical engineer, aerospace engineer, industrial designer, CAD specialist, or technical consultant who enjoys analyzing designs and explaining how they work. It is a strong fit for someone who can distinguish objective engineering facts from assumptions and express those facts with precision.
English communication is required for the project. The role is available across the countries specified in the listing and offers a substantial part-time commitment for qualified contributors.
