Free People is seeking an Associate Buyer responsible for collaborating with the buyer to create an engaging and timely product assortment for retail and direct channels, aiming to meet or exceed sales and profit goals.

Role Responsibilities

1. Support daily operations within the designated buying area and develop partnerships with the buyer.
2. Own the buying process for a specific product class within the area.
3. Plan assortments that align with financial objectives.
4. Delegate and oversee the activities of assistants, providing team direction.
5. Prioritize tasks, balancing immediate needs with long-term goals.
6. Research market trends and develop products accordingly.
7. Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to achieve objectives.
8. Work closely with planning to understand financial indicators and react accordingly.
9. Assist in determining the product mix to ensure customer focus.
10. Support placing buys confidently and learn from past buying experiences.
11. Participate actively in merchant meetings, voicing opinions proactively.
12. Manage merchandise flow, including entering, updating, and tracking purchase orders.
13. Communicate delays or issues with deliveries to the team.
14. Establish new vendor relationships, including routing guides and pre-ticketing.
15. Prioritize urgent requests from merchants and cross-functional teams.
16. Assist in proofreading catalog copy and identifying photos for reshooting to boost sales.
