Job summary

Coinflow is hiring a Fraud Data Scientist to analytically drive our fraud models and rules across card, bank, and alternative rails. You will collaborate with engineers, risk operations, and compliance to translate data into decisions that reduce loss and maintain approvals.

You will prototype features, design experiments, and evaluate model performance, with a focus on explainability to merchants, banks, and auditors. The role covers gaming, marketplaces, remittance and ecommerce clients.

Qualifications

• 4+ years as a data scientist or analyst focused on fraud, risk, or abuse in payments, fintech, or marketplaces.
• Experience using analysis to improve production fraud models or rules with new features or thresholds.
• Strong SQL and Python with an understanding of fraud-model concepts (GBMs, calibration, imbalanced data).

Responsibilities

• Model Performance Analysis: track model/rule performance by time and merchant segment.
• Fraud Trend Analysis: identify emerging patterns and quantify impact.
• Feature Recommendations: explore signals, prototype features, justify additions to models.
• Label Quality & Feedback Loops: manage ground truth, handle delayed/noisy labels.
• Experimentation & Evaluation: design backtests, shadow tests, and vendor comparisons.
• Rules & Strategy: advise thresholds and authentication strategies per merchant segment.
• Reporting & Explainability: produce clear leadership/auditor-facing explanations.
