Job summary

Coinflow is seeking a Fraud Data Scientist to own the analytics behind our fraud models across card, bank, and alternative rails for merchants in gaming, marketplaces, remittance, and ecommerce. You will analyze model performance, identify emerging fraud patterns, and propose features and experiment designs, collaborating with engineers, risk operations, and compliance to translate data into decisions.

Qualifications

• 4+ years as a data scientist or analyst working on fraud, risk, or abuse, ideally at a payments company, fintech, or marketplace
• Strong SQL and Python. Fluent with the stats and ML concepts behind fraud models
• Solid grasp of card-not-present fraud, account takeover, card testing, friendly fraud, chargeback codes
• Comfort with messy, imbalanced, delayed-label data and honest evaluation of model performance
• Experience designing and analyzing experiments with different false positive/negative costs
• Ability to explain model behavior and trade-offs to merchants, risk ops, banks, and auditors

Responsibilities

• Model Performance Analysis: Track model and rule performance over time by merchant segment.
• Fraud Trend Analysis: Spot emerging patterns and quantify impact to stay ahead of chargebacks.
• Feature Recommendations: Explore signals and prototype features; justify additions to models.
• Label Quality & Feedback Loops: Manage ground truth and flag misleading labels.
• Experimentation & Evaluation: Design backtests and champion/challenger tests; evaluate vendors vs. internal models.
• Rules & Strategy: Tune thresholds and thresholds and craft decision strategies by merchant segment.
• Reporting & Explainability: Produce clear reports for leadership and external stakeholders.
