The Graduate Assistant for Fraternity & Sorority Life (FSL) serves as an integral member of the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life and assists in supporting, developing, and advancing the fraternity and sorority experience at Coastal Carolina University. This is a Master’s level position that provides direct support to students, advises fraternity and sorority leaders, assists with educational and leadership initiatives, and contributes to the day‑to‑day operations of the department.

The ideal candidate is passionate about student development, committed to fostering a positive fraternity and sorority experience, and excited about helping shape the future of the FSL community at Coastal Carolina University. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands‑on experience in fraternity and sorority life, student leadership development, event planning, marketing, advising, and student affairs administration.

Responsibilities
Student Leadership Development & Advising
  • Co‑advise one of the governing councils within the fraternity and sorority community.
  • Mentor and support student leaders in achieving organizational and council goals.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of leadership education and training programs.
  • Promote personal growth, accountability, and leadership development among fraternity and sorority members.
  • Assist students in navigating challenges and opportunities within their organizations and the broader campus community.
Community Development & Programming
  • Assist in planning, coordinating, and evaluating educational programs for the fraternity and sorority community.
  • Support the execution of large‑scale signature events, including recruitment and intake initiatives, Greek Week, community‑wide programs, leadership retreats, and other departmental events.
  • Assist in fostering a positive, values‑based fraternity and sorority culture that aligns with the University’s mission and strategic priorities.
  • Contribute to initiatives designed to strengthen community engagement, belonging, and student success.
Marketing & Communications
  • Manage and maintain Fraternity & Sorority Life social media platforms.
  • Develop and create marketing materials, promotional campaigns, and digital content.
  • Assist with maintaining and updating the Fraternity & Sorority Life website and other communication platforms.
  • Support outreach efforts related to recruitment, engagement, and educational initiatives.
Administrative & Operational Support
  • Assist with the day‑to‑day operations of the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life.
  • Attend and contribute to departmental meetings and weekly supervision meetings.
  • Participate in student affairs training opportunities and professional development experiences.
  • Assist with data collection, assessment efforts, and administrative projects as assigned.
  • Fulfill other duties as assigned.
Time Commitment
  • Twenty (20) hours per week during the academic year, totaling 300 hours per semester.
  • Evening and weekend work will be required at various times throughout the semester.
  • Attendance at major fraternity and sorority programs, leadership retreats, and special events is expected.

  • Previous involvement in campus activities, student leadership, fraternity and sorority life, or related experiences is preferred.
