Job summary

H&R Block in Jersey City seeks an experienced Bookkeeper to deliver accurate bookkeeping and payroll processing, while providing responsive client service. You will enter transactions, reconcile accounts and generate financial statements for our clients.

Ideal candidates have 1–3 years of bookkeeping experience, a high school diploma, and National Bookkeeping Association certifications or the ability to obtain them. Strong attention to detail and confidentiality are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1–3 years of bookkeeping experience.
• Knowledge of bookkeeping practices and GAAP.
• National Bookkeeping Association certifications or ability to obtain them.

Responsibilities

• Post financial transactions into subsidiary books and general ledgers.
• Reconcile and balance accounts.
• Generate and analyze financial statements.
• Prepare and process payroll.
• Generate 1099s and W2s and calculate and prepare tax statements.
• Communicate with clients, client suppliers, vendors and banking contacts.
• Assist in client retention and client growth opportunities.
