Job summary

ScaleUp Financial Solutions in the United States is seeking a dynamic CFO to join our fast-growing team to work with multiple clients providing fractional CFO services. You will partner with client and ScaleUp personnel to support a broad range of industries including SaaS, AI, Deep Tech, consumer products and manufacturing to help clients succeed in their goals and growth.

This position starts out on a part-time basis of 10-20 hours a week that can grow into a full-time position of

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or business or relevant experience.
• CPA and MBA preferred.
• Experience in early stage fundraising and venture capital.
• Experience with SaaS, AI, Deep Tech, consumer products preferred.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP.
• Experience with startups and venture-backed companies.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a trusted advisor to clients providing insight, recommendations and solutions.
• Manage multiple clients and accounting staff on those clients to ensure finance and accounting functions are completed in the desired timelines and financial reporting is produced in accordance with the client needs.
• Work with client team to design and produce required reporting including financial statements, KPI tracking, investor and board reporting and budget to actual reporting.
• Prepare and maintain financial forecasts and cash flow models.
• Advise clients on business strategy including capital planning and fundraising, pricing, margins, execution, corporate structure, tax planning, HR policies and stock issuance.
• Partner with Client team during fundraising process providing input to presentations, negotiating term sheets, modeling pro forma cap tables and responding to due diligence.
• Assist in M&A activity including buy and sell-side due diligence, exit planning and negotiation of terms.
• Work with tax advisors to ensure compliance and filings are completed.
• Assist with training staff as needed.
• Manage relationships with banks and other third parties as needed.

We are looking for a dynamic CFO to join our fast-growing team to work with multiple clients providing fractional CFO services. You will partner with both client and ScaleUp personnel to support a broad range of industries to help clients succeed in their goals and growth. We are seeking candidates with experience working in early stage SaaS, AI, Deep Tech, manufacturing, and Consumer Products (apparel, beauty, food, supplements) to support our growing practice in these areas.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a trusted advisor to clients providing insight, recommendations and solutions
• Manage multiple clients and accounting staff on those clients to ensure finance and accounting functions are completed in the desired timelines and financial reporting is produced in accordance with the client needs
• Work with client team to design and produce required reporting including financial statements, KPI tracking, investor and board reporting and budget to actual reporting
• Prepare and maintain financial forecasts and cash flow models
• Evaluate and recommend reporting and data analysis that would provide additional transparency for decision making
• Oversee GAAP accounting
• Ensure accounting processes and policies are documented
• Advise clients on business strategy including capital planning and fundraising, pricing, margins, execution, corporate structure, tax planning, HR policies and stock issuance
• Partner with Client team during fundraising process providing input to presentations, negotiating term sheets, modeling pro forma cap tables and responding to due diligence
• Assist in M&A activity including buy and sell-side due diligence, exit planning and negotiation of terms
• Work with tax advisors to ensure compliance and filings are completed
• Assist with training staff as needed
• Manage relationships with banks and other third parties as needed
• Other duties as may be assigned

Requirements

• 10+ years of finance and accounting experience with a minimum of 7 years as a CFO
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or business or relevant experience
• CPA and MBA preferred
• Strong knowledge of GAAP
• Experience early stage raising venture capital required
• Experience working with a variety of industries highly preferred including at least one or two of the following: SaaS, AI, Deep Tech, Consumer Products, Professional Services
• Experience working with start-ups and venture backed companies
• Expertise in financial modeling, forecasting, KPIs and FP&A
• Preferred experience working in a client facing, billable hour environment, managing multiple clients/engagements, experience working in a fractions role, highly preferred
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to prioritize and work across different teams
• Advanced working knowledge of QBO and Excel, preferred experience working with Bill.com or Ramp and Gusto and ability to learn and use new software systems
• Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and management
• Experience with M&A transactions is a plus
• Working knowledge of AI tools and willingness to learn and adapt with the changing environment
• Strategic thinker and solution oriented with a roll-up your sleeves mentality
• Experience working across the C-Suite, in the board room and with investors
• Colorado, Arizona, Washington and Texas based candidates highly preferred

This position starts out on a part-time basis of 10-20 hours a week that can grow into a full-time position of approximately 35 hours a week, if full-time hours are desired.

Compensation

This is a W-2 position where you are part of the ScaleUp team. We work with you to establish the targeted hours you want to work and align you with the right clients. You are compensated on a commission basis where we pass through a percentage of your hourly billable rate to you. As a CFO your commission will work out to be between $150 and $160 per hour. We have a full set of benefits for full-time employees including health, dental, medical, 401k and PTO.
